Each style of rug is incredibly different from the next one, depending upon the region it comes from. Rugs may differ by size, color scheme and design. Some rugs are pile (knotted, thicker rugs), while others are flat weave (also called Kilims). Some even include embroidered portions. There are rugs that are produced with natural dyes, while others are made from wool from the women’s own farm, and still others use threads that are imported from China.
I currently work with five communities in Morocco: Ain Leuh, Ait Hamza, Taznakht, Anzal, and Boujaad. All of these weaving cooperatives are equipped to custom-make the rug of your dreams. With custom-made rugs, it’s your choice of dimensions, color schemes, and designs.
In addition, I have just started carrying jewelry and embroidery from two different associations. The jewelry comes from a women’s association in Khenifra, and the embroidery comes from a ‘neddy’, or association of young girls in Agaouim.
